BEARDY, Quincy Pickering Jackson (1944-1984). Born on the Garden Hill Reservation at Island Lake, Manitoba, Beardy studied commercial art at the Winnipeg School of Art and later at the University of Manitoba School of Art. His paintings and serigraphs are very colourful and use symbolism from Ojibway and Cree legends and myths, in much the same way as Norval Morrisseau and Daphne Odjig. In 1971 he joined the Museum of Man and Nature as a field researcher of Ojibway culture. He is represented in the MCMC, GM, CCAB, ROM and MOM.
