Biography of NELL MARY BRADSHAW
Born in Ownyo, California, Bradshaw arrived in Canada in 1914 and later settled in Victoria, British Columbia in 1959. Mainly self-taught, she did receive instruction from H.G. Glyde and Molly Bobak at the Victoria Art Gallery, and also Herbert Siebner in Victoria. She was influenced by Tom Thompson, A. Y. Jackson and the Group of Seven and later by Paul Klee and Jack Shadbolt. A landscape, figurative and still life painter, she is best known for her oil paintings of totem poles and Indian lore.
