Biography of GEORGINA PAIGE PINNEO

PINNEO, Georgiana Paige  CSEA (1896-active 1977). Born Waterville, Nova Scotia, Pinneo studied at Acadia University (B.A. 1916); at the Nova Scotia Normal School; with Elizabeth Nutt at the Nova Scotia College of Art (1921); with Alesander Beicovitch and Sherriff Scott in Montreal (1940-1942); and with Stanley Woodward and Lester Stevens in Rockport, Massachusetts. She also travelled to England, Indonesia, Bali, Thailand, Spain, Italy, England and the West Indies (1960-1970). Working in watercolour, she is known for her landscapes, and still life. She taught art with Arthur Lismer at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (1940-1944); at Sir George Williams University, Montreal (1940-1954); and high school art in Montreal, Quebec (1939-1960). She exhibited with the RCA in 1943, and 1947, and at the AAM in 1939-1946. Her work is in the collections of the AGW and the MQ.
