Biography of HARRIETTE KEATING

Harriette Keating (1898- ):Born in Seattle, Washington, Keating moved to Saskatchewan and was known to be living in Regina in the 1920s. A landscape artist working in oil, little is known of this artist except for an interesting reference to her in an article on the private collection of Norman MacKenzie, K.C. in the Regina Morning Leader of April, 1925. Detailing the works in the collection that included many important Old Masters, the article concluded:

"Mr. Mackenzie’s great interest in the field of Canadian art is revealed in the fact that 45 pictures by Canadian artists are included in his collection. Paintings by James Henderson, Archibald Brown, A. Harold, Inglis Sheldon-Williams, David Payne, Harriette Keating, Frederick Bell-Smith, Homer Watson, and others, hang close to the best work of other countries, and form by no means the least interesting part of the collection."
