Biography of BERNICE FENWICK MARTIN

MARTIN, Bernice Fenwick CPE, FIAL, PDCC (1902-1999): Born in Shelburne, Ontario, Martin studied at the Ontario College of Art under J.W. Beatty and Franklin Carmichael; at the University of Alberta, and McMaster University, Ontario. After 1941 she studied with Peter Clapham Sheppard. Working in oil, watercolour and woodcut, her subject matter includes landscape, still life, market scenes, and flower studies.  Martin exhibited at the Royal Canadian Academy, the Quebec Museum of Fine Arts, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Art Gallery of Ontario. Her work can be found in many prominent private, corporate and public collections including the National Gallery of Canada.
