Biography of DOROTHY SKLAR

Dorothy Sklar (American, 1906-1996)

Dorothy Sklar was born in New York City but by the 1930s she had moved to Los Angeles. She studied at UCLA with Millard Sheets and Dong Kingman who were important figures in painting at the time. Sklar would often paint from the back of her car, trying to capture genre scenes of people. She is known for her opaque watercolours that often depict old houses and children at play.
