Biography of MATT LINDSTROM
LINDSTROM, Matt ASA (1890-1975). Born in Finland, Lindstrom studied in Helsinki, Finland and immigrated to Alberta in 1929. He moved to Edmonton before settling in Calgary in 1932. He studied at the Provincial Institute of Technology and Art, Calgary and at the Banff School of Fine Arts (1944). He began painting seriously in 1945. Working mainly in oil and some watercolour, he painted Prairie and mountain landscapes with animals, especially near Banff. He was a sketching companion of Roland Gissing.
